September 18, 2005
Speaker: Tony Griffies

The Search Is On...

  • The world wants to hear God
  • The world wants to see God
  • The world wants participation by God

The Call for Revival

ì...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.î - 2 Chronicles 7:14

  • God is calling for revival. So what's stopping him?
    • Could it be us?
    • What spiritual condition do we find ourselves in?
    • Could it be that we're all dried up?

God's Revival Visual Aid - Ezekiel 37:1-14

Are Your Bones Dryin' Out?

  • Here are the signs:
    • When the desire for bible study & prayer is absent
    • When spiritual conversations are avoided due to embarrassment
    • When sin is rationalized
    • When services are attended and scriptures can be quoted but it makes no personal difference.
    • When the plight of the lost no longer bothers us.
    • When worship and service to God no longer excite us.

Closer look at Dry Bones

  • Dry
    • Have we been dried out by elements of society?
  • Scattered
    • Do we find ourselves wondering where everyone has gone?
  • Numerous
    • Do we feel like giving up?

Can They Live Again?

  • Revival comes through proclamation of the Word.
    • Ezekiel preached to dry bones and they lived!
    • Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" - Matthew 4:4
  • Revival comes through prayer and repentance.
    • "...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14

Following God

  • The dry bones came to life when Ezekiel obeyed God.
  • Those who were once dead were made new.
  • Even dead, dry bones were moved when called by God

Revival!

So how do you experience this sort of revival? By:

  • Recognizing the dryness of our bones
  • Ruthless confession of personal sin
  • Rejoicing in our salvation
  • Rejuvenation through passionate worship once again.

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? - Psalm 85:6
