Two Important Questions are Asked:
Who do Men say I am? (16:13)
- The answers: John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.
Who do You say I am?
- Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God." (16:16)
Get Behind Me, Satan! (Matthew 16:21-28
Peter's Gaffs
- His practice didn't match his proclamation.
- His concept of the Kingdom was faulty.
- He provided an avenue of temptation for Jesus.
- He allowed human reasoning to override spiritual discernment.
Conclusion
Who do you say I am?
- The questions that Jesus asked early in the chapter still have significance:
Who do men say that I am?
- But the most important question still is: Who do you say that I am? Among
all the gods, amid all the pursuits of your life, with all the theories
that clamor in your brain, who do you say he is?
