Child Sacrifice

Unthinkable Sacrifices in the Bible

• When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. - Deuteronomy 18:9-12
• They set up their abominable idols in the house that bears my Name and defiled it. They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech, though I never commanded, nor did it enter my mind, that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin. - Jeremiah 32:34-35
• They sacrificed their sons
  and their daughters to demons.
  They shed innocent blood,
  the blood of their sons and daughters,
  whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
  and the land was desecrated by their blood. - Psalm 106:37-38
• "'And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols. In all your detestable practices and your prostitution you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, kicking about in your blood.'" - Ezekiel 6:20-22

1 Samuel 2

Eli sacrificed his sons to:

• The god of Disrespect
  • They had no respect for God (1 Samuel 2:12)
  • They had no respect for right and wrong (1 Samuel 2:22-25)
  • They had no respect for their father (1 Samuel 2:25b)
• The god of Permissiveness
  • God says Eli knew what they were doing but failed to restrain them. (1 Samuel 3:12-13)
  • God teaches discipline
    • Proverbs 12:1, 13:24, 19:18, 22:15
• The god of Nominal Spirituality

Conclusion

Don't let your children become children of sacrifice!
