Ephesians 6:1-4

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

A word from the Word for Kids

God Speaks to Children (Ephesians 6:1a)

Obeying your Parents is Obeying God (Ephesians 6:1c)

Parents should be Honored (Ephesians 6:2)

Ways to honor your parents

Respect them

Appreciate them and what they do for you (both special and everyday things)

Cooperate with them

Accept them

You determine Your Future (Ephesians 6:3)

Don't Exasperate (Ephesians 6:4)

Why is this aimed at Fathers?

Because of his role responsibility (as the head of the household)

Because of a father's impact

Require Obedience

Train

Instruct

Conclusion

We give our children the best change on earth and in heaven when we model Christ.
