Crucifying Christ Again
- The Gospel accounts avoid much of the horror of the
Crucifixion.
- Our thoughts cause us to reflect on the Roman soldiers who were forced
to drive
those nails and pierce His side.
- The Hebrew writer tells us that some do this terrible deed all over again.
Privileges Granted A Christian
- Enlightened
- Tasted the heavenly gift
- Shared the Holy Spirit
- Tasted the goodness of the Word of God
- Powers of the coming age
Failure to Appreciate Privileges
- The once redeemed become the executioners
- Cannot claim that ignorance led
to their actions (Conf. Rom. 1:20)
- First crucifixion was national; second one
is personal
Calcified Christians, Hardened Hearts
- Significant impact on the church - they
crucify Christ again
- They denigrate the Body of Christ
Conclusion:
- The first crucifixion had a noble purpose - God’s means of redeeming
a lost world.
- Another crucifixion breaks the heart of God and brings
no good
results.
- The Lord does not need more nails, more thirst, more ridicule, more pain,
or more shame.
