The Pursuit of Holiness

The Book of Leviticus

Lesson #1 - Chosen for a Purpose

Date: 12/05/2004
Teacher: Tony Griffies

Why Bother with Leviticus?

  • Paul is right.
    • All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. - II Timothy 3:16-17
  • The fundamental concern of Leviticus should be a fundamental concern for the church: holiness
    • You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own. - Leviticus 20:26 (also Lev. 11:44-45; Lev. 19:2)
  • The principles underlying the specific instructions about holiness in Leviticus are eternal in nature.
